Workhorse Group Inc. announced a limited-time pricing promotion for its W56 electric step van lineup to assist commercial fleets with rising operational costs. Effective April 1 through September 30, 2026, the company is offering price reductions of up to $61,000 on specific configurations.
Highlights
- Significant Price Reductions: New pricing for the 210 kWh W56 starts at $196,000 for the standard wheelbase and $204,000 for the extended version.
- Merger Synergies: Lowered production costs result from the December 2025 merger between Workhorse and Motiv Electric Trucks.
- Operational Efficiency: The W56 platform demonstrates 64 percent operating cost savings compared to internal combustion engines.
Technical Specifications and Incentives
The W56 lineup features a 210 kWh battery and a fully integrated composite body manufactured on-site in Union City, Indiana. The Standard 178″ Wheelbase provides 1,000 cubic feet of cargo space and a 10,000 lb. payload, while the Extended 208″ Wheelbase offers 1,200 cubic feet and 9,000 lbs. of payload.
Additionally, the company recently introduced a 140 kWh variant with an estimated range of 100 miles and a base price of $169,000. These costs can be further mitigated by state-level programs, such as California’s HVIP, which provides up to $80,000, and Washington’s WAZIP program, offering up to $100,000.
Industry Context: Combating Fuel Volatility
Rising fuel prices, currently exceeding $4.00 per gallon in several regions, are pressuring commercial fleet margins. Consequently, fleet operators are prioritizing cost stability and vehicle uptime to hedge against global oil market fluctuations.
Workhorse Group Inc. CEO Scott Griffith noted that lowering the purchase price directly addresses the “hammering” of route economics caused by current oil prices. Furthermore, with over 20 million miles driven across its fleet, the company aims to leverage its production scale to support the transition to electrification.
