Genesis Enhances EV Charging

Genesis enhances EV charging with in-app payments and plug and charge features for select models, simplifying public sessions across major networks like IONNA and Tesla Supercharger.

Genesis Motor North America has introduced innovative features to simplify public charging for its electric vehicles. These enhancements, integrated into the MyGenesis app, offer owners greater convenience and control over their charging experiences, aligning with the brand’s commitment to elevated ownership.

Key Highlights

  • In-app charging allows users to locate, pay for, and monitor sessions directly in the app.
  • Plug and charge enables automatic payments by simply plugging in at compatible stations.
  • Compatible vehicles include the 2026 Electrified GV70 and 2026 GV60 (coming soon).
  • Supported networks feature IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, and ChargePoint, among others.
  • Features provide dynamic EV route planning and seamless integration with vehicle infotainment.

MyGenesis App Capabilities

The MyGenesis app already boasts robust remote-control features, such as surround-view camera access, detailed vehicle status, and digital key technology. With these new additions, it becomes an even more powerful tool for EV owners.

The app’s enhancements reinforce Genesis’s dedication to customer convenience. As stated by Tedros Mengiste, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America, these features make recharging easier while on the go.

In-App Charging Details

Owners of eligible Genesis EVs can now find and pay for charging within the MyGenesis app, eliminating the need for third-party apps or physical credit cards on most networks across the United States. Users can efficiently locate charging stations, navigate to them, select and activate sessions, and monitor progress.

Additionally, the app supports adding a credit card via Genesis Pay for seamless payments. It includes dynamic EV route planning with charger routing, available both in the app and on the vehicle’s infotainment screen. Drivers can also send charger locations from the app directly to their vehicle’s multimedia screen.

Currently compatible vehicles are the 2026 Electrified GV70 and the 2026 GV60 (coming soon). Available charging networks include IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, ChargePoint (including roaming partners), EVgo, EV Connect, Flo, and Shell.

Plug and Charge Functionality

The plug and charge feature allows owners of select Genesis EVs to pay automatically by plugging in at participating public stations, without using smartphones or credit cards. This technology streamlines the process, making it faster and more user-friendly.

To activate, customers set up in-app charging and enable plug and charge in the MyGenesis app. Participating stations then communicate with the vehicle to initiate charging and bill accordingly.

Initial availability is at IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, and select ChargePoint stations where supported. Compatible vehicles mirror those for in-app charging: the 2026 Electrified GV70 and 2026 GV60 (coming soon).

Future Expansions and Resources

In the future, these features will expand to additional Genesis EV models and more public charging networks, further simplifying the charging process.

Genesis Motor North America, headquartered in Fountain Valley, California, continues to grow its network of retailers and agency distributors across the United States and Canada.
