Gravity, a leading American electric vehicle (EV) charging technology company, is set to transform EV charging in Los Angeles. The company has unveiled plans to launch eight new charging stations across Greater LA, featuring 500kW chargers that deliver speeds nearly twice as fast as the region’s current top options. These advanced stations will allow drivers to add substantial range to their EVs in just five minutes, promising a leap forward in charging convenience.
Key Highlights
- Eight new ultra-fast charging stations coming to Greater LA
- 500kW chargers provide nearly double the speed of competitors
- 5-minute charging sessions for fast, efficient EV charging
- Designed for autonomous vehicles with human-less charging tech
- Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities enhance grid resiliency
- Proven reliability with 100% site uptime
- Plans for national expansion to hundreds more sites
The new stations will serve key Greater LA areas, including Pacific Palisades, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, East Pasadena, Brentwood, Huntington Beach, North Hills, and Thousand Oaks. These spots aim to fill gaps in high-speed charging access, making EV travel easier for drivers across the region.
Each site will house about twelve 500kW Distributed Energy Access Points (DEAPs), UL-listed units that have set charging speed records for various EV models. First introduced in New York City in 2024, these DEAPs boast 100% site uptime and utilization rates nearing 50%, proving their dependability.
Looking ahead, the stations are designed for autonomous vehicles, featuring lanes, sensors, and cableless charging tech that needs no human help. They also include vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities, enabling them to send power back to the grid or nearby areas during emergencies, boosting energy resilience.
Gravity is partnering with a national corporate ally to build these sites, with plans to grow to hundreds more locations nationwide. Moshe Cohen, Gravity’s Founder and CEO, called the 500kW sites a “game-changer for Los Angelenos,” highlighting their speed, reliability, and cutting-edge features like autonomous vehicle engineering.
