Greenlane, a leader in public charging infrastructure for commercial vehicles, has launched its innovative “Charge On Us” dealer program to accelerate the adoption of electric trucks. This initiative addresses key barriers to electrification, such as infrastructure challenges and range anxiety, by offering $500 in charging credits and a six-month complimentary Greenlane Edge™ subscription for every qualifying light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electric truck sold. Velocity Truck Centers, a prominent North American commercial vehicle dealer, is the first to join, rolling out the program across its network with each new truck sale.
Key Highlights
- Charging Credits: $500 in credits for each qualifying electric truck purchase.
- Greenlane Edge™ Subscription: Six months free access, including discounted rates and advanced tools.
- Velocity Partnership: Immediate program rollout across Velocity’s extensive dealer network.
- Pilot Programs: Dealerships can run pilots at Greenlane facilities, simplifying customer testing.
- Cost Reduction: Program lowers total cost of ownership and eliminates infrastructure investment.
Simplifying Electrification for Fleets
The “Charge On Us” program tackles the complexities of transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) by providing immediate access to Greenlane’s public charging network. This eliminates the need for fleets to invest in costly private charging infrastructure. The Greenlane Edge™ subscription offers discounted charging rates, advanced reservation tools, and a fleet management portal that streamlines billing, enhances route planning, and reduces downtime. Real-time charging data and flexible technology integrations further support efficient operations.
Velocity Truck Centers, the first partner, sees the program as a game-changer. Scott Zeppenfeldt, Velocity’s COO, noted, “Customers often worry about where and how to charge electric trucks. Greenlane’s program removes those hurdles by leveraging public infrastructure, allowing us to demonstrate how seamless electrification can be.” Velocity will also utilize Greenlane’s Colton facility for pilot programs, showcasing the practicality of EV adoption.
Dealer Benefits and Support
Participating dealerships receive comprehensive support, including sales enablement tools, marketing resources, and customer service. They also gain subscriptions to Greenlane’s network, enabling pilot programs at Greenlane facilities. This turnkey solution simplifies customer billing and reduces the need for complex infrastructure investments, making it easier for dealers to promote electric trucks.
Greenlane’s Growing Infrastructure
Greenlane’s flagship Colton Greenlane Center™ in California, located at the intersection of I-215 and I-10, features over 40 high-speed chargers, including 12 pull-through and 29 bobtail lanes for medium- and heavy-duty EVs. The site offers amenities like restrooms, Wi-Fi, carports, 24/7 security, office space, and parking. It forms part of Greenlane’s I-15 charging corridor from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and the I-10 corridor, with planned expansions in Blythe, California, and Greater Phoenix, Arizona.
Industry Impact and Vision
Patrick Macdonald-King, Greenlane’s CEO, emphasized the program’s role in addressing fleet concerns: “Our program provides immediate charging credits and access to high-speed chargers, making electrification more accessible and cost-effective.” By partnering with Velocity, Greenlane aims to scale its impact, helping more fleets transition to electric vehicles with ease.
