Hallcon Corporation, a leader in North American transportation and infrastructure services, has begun construction on Washington’s largest electric vehicle (EV) fleet charging facility in Redmond. This groundbreaking Electric Vehicle Operations Center (EVOC) underscores Hallcon’s commitment to sustainable mobility and positions Redmond as a key player in clean energy transportation. Spanning nearly four acres, the facility is designed to meet the rising demand for eco-friendly transport solutions in the Puget Sound region.
Key Highlights
- Largest EV fleet charging facility in Washington, featuring 60 high-capacity charging ports.
- Powered by over 5 megawatts of energy, capable of charging over 300 vehicles daily.
- Reduces 25,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing thousands of cars from roads.
- Creates nearly 50 green jobs in Redmond, boosting local economic growth.
- Scheduled for completion by end of 2025, with phased development to meet client needs.
The Redmond EVOC will support a variety of vehicles, including motorcoaches and shuttles, with 60 high-capacity charging ports powered by more than 5 megawatts of energy. This setup allows the facility to charge over 300 vehicles daily, ensuring efficient operations for fleet clients. To maintain reliability during emergencies, the center includes 1.5 megawatts of backup power. The facility also offers valet-style charging, vehicle staging, and advanced EV analytics, enhancing operational efficiency for clients across the region.
Hallcon’s President & CEO, John R. Stoiber, emphasized the facility’s role in advancing sustainable transportation. “This EVOC aligns with our 2017 vision for sustainability, positioning Redmond as a hub for forward-thinking mobility,” Stoiber said. The project is expected to significantly reduce environmental impact by eliminating 25,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing thousands of gas-powered vehicles from local roads.
Local leaders have praised the initiative. Redmond Mayor Angela Birney noted that the facility aligns with the city’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, which prioritizes sustainability. “Hallcon’s investment in Redmond strengthens our commitment to green innovation,” Birney said. Similarly, Washington State Senator Vandana Slatter highlighted the project’s alignment with the state’s climate goals, stating, “Hallcon’s leadership in electrification is paving the way for a cleaner future.”
The EVOC will also drive economic benefits, creating nearly 50 new green jobs in Redmond. These roles will support the facility’s operations, including charge management, infrastructure maintenance, and advanced analytics services. The project is a collaboration with Puget Sound Energy, with Aaron August, SVP and Chief Customer and Transformation Officer, emphasizing its role in achieving Washington’s clean energy objectives. “This facility delivers both environmental and economic benefits to our communities,” August said.
Built in phases to accommodate growing demand, the Redmond EVOC is set to be fully operational by the end of 2025. It will join Hallcon’s network of state-of-the-art EV Operations Centers, including locations in San Jose and Fremont, California. The company’s EVOne® division specializes in turnkey EV infrastructure solutions, offering services like Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS), analytics, and maintenance to optimize fleet operations.
Hallcon’s broader mission focuses on delivering innovative transportation solutions for diverse clients, including technology companies, universities, hospitals, and public transit agencies. Through services like shuttles, integrated command centers, and data analytics, Hallcon enhances rider experiences while prioritizing sustainability.
