After a 25-year hiatus, Honda has reintroduced the Prelude to the European market—now reborn as a hybrid sports coupe combining classic driving enjoyment with modern electrified performance. The all-new Prelude e:HEV delivers a refined balance of agility, efficiency, and comfort while preserving the model’s legacy of technical innovation.
Distinctive Design and Driving Dynamics
Drawing inspiration from the graceful simplicity of gliders, the Prelude’s exterior exhibits a low, wide stance that enhances aerodynamic flow and road presence. This design philosophy extends to the cabin, where a minimalist yet premium cockpit layout mirrors the precision of a glider’s controls.
The new Prelude inherits advanced suspension technology from the Civic Type R, integrating adaptive dampers and Honda’s Agile Handling Assist (AHA) for improved stability and responsiveness.
Honda S+ Shift: Engaging Hybrid Performance
The all-new Honda S+ Shift system elevates driver engagement by simulating quick, automatic gear changes through coordinated control of engine sound, revs, and road speed. The system features a virtual eight-speed transmission, controlled via steering wheel paddles, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the rhythm of gear changes while maintaining hybrid efficiency.
When downshifting, engine braking and throttle blips replicate the feel of a traditional manual transmission, enhancing control during spirited driving.
e:HEV Hybrid Powertrain and Drive Modes
Powered by Honda’s proven 2.0-liter e:HEV full hybrid system, the Prelude delivers 184 PS (135 kW) with refined, immediate torque delivery. The hybrid setup intelligently switches between electric, hybrid, and engine drive modes for optimal efficiency.
Drivers can further tailor performance using Comfort, GT, Sport, or Individual modes—adjusting the powertrain, suspension, and steering dynamics to match their preferences.
Interior Experience and Technology
Inside, the Prelude provides a driver-focused cockpit with a 10.2-inch digital cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto. A premium Bose eight-speaker system complements the interior’s bespoke two-tone color schemes—white-and-blue or black-and-blue.
Despite its sleek coupe profile, the Prelude offers four-seat practicality and up to 663 liters of cargo capacity via a large hatchback tailgate. Available color options include Moonlit White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Racing Blue Pearl.
