Humax and Harmony Automotive Partner on BYD Home Charging

Humax EV Charging and Harmony Automotive partner to integrate MX7 home chargers into BYD vehicle financing across six UK showrooms starting at £999.

Humax EV Charging and Harmony Automotive have established a partnership to provide home charging solutions for BYD customers in the United Kingdom. The agreement allows buyers to integrate charging hardware and installation costs into vehicle financing. This service is currently active across six dealership locations.

Highlights

  • Home charging hardware is integrated directly into Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) finance schemes.
  • Bundled pricing starts at £999 (approximately $1,250 USD) and includes standard installation.
  • Charging units feature energy theft protection through vehicle recognition technology.
  • Hardware is ISO 15118-ready to support future Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities.

Integrated Charging Finance

Customers purchasing a BYD vehicle through Harmony Automotive can now bundle the Humax MX7 charger into their monthly payments. Specifically, this option is available through Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or other payment methods. This structure aims to reduce the barrier of high upfront installation costs for individual and fleet buyers.

MX7 Technical Specifications

The Humax MX7 serves as the primary hardware for this partnership, featuring energy theft protection via vehicle recognition technology. Additionally, the unit is solar compatible, supporting energy integration for more cost-efficient home charging. The charger is also eligible for the UK Government’s OZEV grant scheme.

The hardware is future-proofed with ISO 15118-ready components to support V2G capability as it becomes available. Furthermore, users can manage the system via a dedicated mobile application for schedules and real-time monitoring. The package includes a five-year warranty and 24/7 technical support.

Industry Context

This partnership reflects a growing trend where automotive retailers provide comprehensive energy solutions at the point of sale. By consolidating hardware, installation, and financing, dealerships can improve the customer transition to electric mobility. Jeff Kim, president of Humax EV Charging, noted that the collaboration creates a “one-stop-shop” experience for charging needs.

Harmony Automotive operates as an authorized exclusive BYD dealership network in the UK. Martyn Webb, chief business controller at Harmony, stated the goal is to provide an integrated package that complements the technology found in BYD vehicles.
