Cars.com’s Best Value New Cars awards evaluate vehicles using an efficiency cost rating. The metric divides the EPA’s combined fuel economy rating by the vehicle’s base price, including MSRP and destination charge. The Sportage Hybrid topped the compact SUV segment under this formula.
