Mer Germany and Mer Austria, leading experts in comprehensive charging solutions, have initiated a pilot project with Cariqa, an innovative e-mobility platform, to deploy AI-driven dynamic pricing for electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Key Highlights
- Dynamic pricing based on AI technology
- Real-time adjustments for optimal station usage
- Attractive rates via Cariqa marketplace
- Pilot covering Germany and Austria
- Enhanced user-centric charging experience
Mer’s integration with Cariqa’s platform introduces dynamic pricing models to its extensive charging network in Germany and Austria for the first time. This collaboration aims to balance station usage efficiently and offer attractive rates, tailored to real-time demand and user behavior.
Until recently, charge point operators typically employed fixed pricing structures, resulting in uneven station usage, with some stations overloaded and others underutilized. Cariqa’s advanced AI technology changes this by analyzing millions of data points daily, capturing usage patterns and demand trends.
This AI-driven Smart Pricing system factors in over 20 variables, including station utilization, demand at different times, and local traffic conditions. When demand is anticipated to be low, the pricing algorithm automatically reduces charging rates, encouraging off-peak charging and helping manage grid load effectively.
Mer Managing Director Anton Achatz states, “Through our pilot project with Cariqa, we want to test another option for our customers to charge cost-efficiently and sustainably within our charging network. AI-based Smart Pricing allows us to gain further experience in dynamic pricing and load management, ensuring flexible and fair charging prices.”
Cariqa CEO Issam Tidjani emphasizes, “The era of one-size-fits-all pricing is coming to an end. Together with Mer, we’re introducing a smarter approach—adapting pricing to demand, usage patterns, and local conditions. This cooperation represents a crucial step toward smarter, more profitable, and user-centric charging infrastructure.”
