WLX WeLink Express has deployed the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 as a tractor unit in Sweden, marking the country’s first commercial application of the electric truck in long-distance freight operations. The Malmö-based carrier operates the vehicle on routes exceeding 1,000 kilometers daily for DHL.
Highlights
- Swedish carrier WLX WeLink Express operates eActros 600 on 1,000+ km daily routes for DHL, running 18 hours per day, five days per week
- Electric tractor unit achieves 500 km range without intermediate charging, even when operating with link trailer combinations exceeding half the daily route
- Vehicle features 621 kWh battery capacity using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, designed for 1.2 million km service life over 10 years

Operational Deployment Details
The eActros 600 operates as a truck-trailer combination with a total length of 25.25 meters, seven axles, and a gross weight of 36 tons. Multiple drivers share operation on routes connecting Malmö, Jönköping, and Emmaboda. The carrier utilizes mandatory break periods for opportunity charging to maximize operational efficiency.
WLX WeLink Express plans to expand deployment to include overnight round trips to Gothenburg.
Technical Specifications
The eActros 600 incorporates three battery packs with the following characteristics:
- Individual pack capacity: 207 kWh
- Total installed capacity: 621 kWh
- Battery chemistry: Lithium iron phosphate (LFP)
- Usable capacity: Over 95 percent of installed capacity
- Battery state of health target: Above 80 percent after 1.2 million km
The vehicle uses a proprietary electric drive axle developed by Mercedes-Benz. Under realistic operating conditions with a 40-ton gross combination mass, the truck delivers 500 km range on a single charge. Range varies based on driving conditions and route profiles.
With intermediate charging during statutory driver breaks, the eActros 600 can cover over 1,000 km daily when charging infrastructure is available.

Production and Market Status
Mercedes-Benz Trucks launched series production at its Wörth plant in November 2024. Customer deliveries commenced in December 2024. The eActros 600 received the “International Truck of the Year 2025” award from 24 commercial vehicle journalists representing the International Truck of the Year organization.
Prior to commercial deployment, the vehicle completed validation testing including a 15,000-kilometer development tour across 22 European countries and a 6,500-kilometer winter testing program in Northern Europe, both conducted at 40-ton gross combination mass.
Vehicle Configuration Options
Mercedes-Benz recently expanded the eActros platform with additional variants. Customers can specify:
- Two cab variants
- Two or three battery pack configurations
- Multiple wheelbase options
- Various axle configurations
The expanded lineup offers over 40 base vehicle variants. Standard EU configuration provides approximately 22 tons payload with a semitrailer. The vehicle is technically rated for 44-ton gross combination mass, with higher payloads possible where national regulations permit.
All variants incorporate LFP battery technology and the Mercedes-Benz eAxle.
