The Mercedes-Benz CLA has been named Car of the Year 2026 by the European Car of the Year jury at the Brussels Motor Show. The all-electric variant of the redesigned compact sedan secured the award with 320 points, defeating 34 competing models and six finalists in voting conducted by 60 automotive journalists from 23 European countries.

Electric Powertrain Specifications

The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology represents the flagship electric variant. Mercedes-Benz reports combined energy consumption of 14.1–12.2 kWh/100 km under WLTP testing protocols. The automaker positions the model as capable of completing routes such as Berlin to Brussels or Bremen to Munich without intermediate charging stops.

The 800-volt electrical architecture supports rapid DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims the system can replenish approximately 325 km of range within a 10-minute charging session.

Technology Platform

The CLA introduces Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system paired with an updated MBUX infotainment interface featuring artificial intelligence integration. The platform represents a significant software architecture update for the brand’s compact vehicle lineup.

Market Performance and Availability

European deliveries commenced in mid-2025. Mercedes-Benz reports customer orders have exceeded internal projections, with the order bank extending into the second half of 2026. U.S. market availability is expected in the near term.
