Monta, a Danish operating platform powering the electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem, has officially launched its U.S. headquarters in Miami. The move follows the company’s rapid growth in Europe, where it is now the de facto platform for simplifying and managing EV charging infrastructure. With its new base in Miami, Monta plans to connect 25,000 commercial charge points by 2025 and reach one million charging points by 2030.

Key Highlights:

  • New U.S. Headquarters in Miami to spearhead North American expansion.
  • Partnership with Emobi brings Monta’s software to 118,000 charge points.
  • Plans to connect one million charging points by 2030 in the U.S.
  • Expansion powered by recent success in the UK and European markets.
  • Miami chosen for its growing status as a tech hub and talent-rich environment.

In Europe, Monta has partnered with several companies, including Rolec, Egg, and SyncEV, utilizing Monta’s platform to manage fleets, home, and workplace charging, alongside an extensive roaming network of 600,000 charge points. The success of these initiatives is driving Monta’s confidence in tackling the U.S. market, where the need for improved charging infrastructure is evident.

According to Boston Consulting Group, nearly half of all new car sales in the U.S. will be electric by 2030, but challenges remain. A significant percentage of EV charges in the U.S. still face problems, with 25% of charging attempts being unsuccessful and an additional 12% reduced in power. Monta aims to solve these issues by offering better software solutions that optimize the charging experience and support widespread EV adoption.

Casper Rasmussen, CEO and co-founder of Monta, said, “EV and charging infrastructure are a cornerstone of the global shift towards decentralized electrification, and Monta’s software platform is the backbone enabling this critical transition in energy and mobility.” The success in Europe has enabled Monta to bring its expertise to the U.S., where the growing demand for EV infrastructure needs cohesive solutions.

Miami is an ideal location for Monta’s expansion, with its status as a burgeoning tech powerhouse and access to talent and ecosystem support. Mayor Francis X. Suarez commented on Monta’s choice to expand in Miami, emphasizing the alignment with the city’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. “Monta’s dedication to enhancing electric mobility aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable solutions,” said Mayor Suarez.

The collaboration with Emobi, North America’s largest EV charging ecosystem, will see Monta’s software seamlessly integrated with over 118,000 charge points in the U.S. by 2025. Lin Sun Fa, CEO of Emobi, noted that this partnership is a significant step toward building an accessible and comprehensive charging infrastructure across North America, accelerating EV adoption for all stakeholders.

The global EV charging market is expected to reach $217 billion in the next five years, with $11 billion directed at software solutions. Monta is positioning itself to be a leader in EV charging operations, leveraging its experience and partnerships in Europe to address the growing demands of the U.S. market. Alok Dubey, Monta’s Regional Director, emphasized the importance of the U.S. expansion in fostering innovation and building a platform that sets standards globally.

Founded in late 2020 in Denmark, Monta has quickly established itself across nine European countries and currently manages 165,000 commercial charging points. Through its 750+ partners, Monta offers integrated software solutions for hardware manufacturers, fleet managers, residential and workplace chargers, and electricity grids. With the U.S. market now part of its global vision, Monta aims to set a new benchmark in EV charging infrastructure, making electric mobility more accessible and efficient across the globe.
