Monta Introduces AI Layer for Charging Network Management

Monta has launched Monta AI, a proactive intelligence layer for EV charging operations that analyzes network data continuously, resolves 79% of driver queries automatically, and is available to all customers at no additional cost.

Monta has launched Monta AI, a proactive operational intelligence layer designed to address scalability challenges facing EV charging network operators.

The system continuously analyzes network operations in the background, surfacing insights, anomalies, and recommendations without requiring manual investigation. Operators can also query the platform using natural language to access data across operations, performance, pricing, expansion planning, and energy management.

Highlights

  • Monta AI is available to all Monta customers at no additional cost, reflecting the company’s position that AI-driven operational intelligence should be standard functionality.
  • The system improved one operator’s DC charger success rate from 31.2% to 98.3% in 25 seconds by identifying a firmware mismatch causing repeated failures.
  • Monta AI proactively resolves 79% of driver queries before customers contact support.
  • The platform draws on data from 260,000+ connected charge points, 3 million monthly charging sessions, and 14,000 monthly support requests.

Addressing Operational Bottlenecks

EV charging networks are expanding faster than operations teams can scale, with 100% annual growth rates common in the industry. A single failed charging session can require hours of manual investigation across OCPP logs, firmware versions, payment data, and hardware documentation.

This investigative work typically falls to a small number of specialists. As networks grow three-, five-, or ten-fold, the manual operating model becomes costly and difficult to maintain.

Monta AI synthesizes scattered operational signals into a unified intelligence layer. The system explains issues, diagnoses problems, and recommends actions while keeping human operators in control of execution.

Core Capabilities

Monta AI supports decision-making across the full EV charging lifecycle:

  • Operational diagnostics and resolution: Identifies root causes of failed charging sessions using live OCPP logs, firmware data, payment context, and user feedback, then guides teams on priority actions.
  • Network performance optimization: Detects recurring issues and performance patterns across chargers, sites, and regions to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Pricing, utilization, and expansion insights: Informs pricing strategies, analyzes utilization trends, and identifies underserved areas or new deployment opportunities.
  • Energy and load intelligence: Explains smart-charging behavior, energy constraints, and load management factors affecting network performance.
  • Automated customer support: Provides real-time troubleshooting for drivers without requiring human intervention.

Technical Foundation

Monta AI builds on AI systems already running in production across the platform, including automated support resolution and AI-powered diagnostics such as the NOC Agent. These capabilities are unified through a conversational interface and continuously improve through live network activity data.

The system is trained on operational data spanning more than 260,000 connected charge points, 3 million monthly charging sessions, and 14,000 support requests per month across Monta’s global platform.

Roadmap: From Reactive to Autonomous Operations

In the near term, Monta AI provides operators with AI-powered support for troubleshooting charge points, understanding performance issues, managing firmware updates, and adjusting pricing. The system detects anomalies early and delivers role-specific recommendations.

Workflows such as maintenance actions, pricing changes, or firmware rollouts can be partially automated while keeping humans in control. Monta’s longer-term goal is to support autonomous charging operations, with software orchestrating fault resolution, optimization, and network coordination end-to-end.
