INEOS Automotive unveiled the INEOS Fusilier, its third model line, introducing a 4X4 that offers both an all-electric and a range-extender electric powertrain. This move is aimed at addressing global consumer demands for sustainable driving options without sacrificing performance. The INEOS Fusilier, slightly more compact than its predecessor, the Grenadier, is designed to deliver exceptional on- and off-road capabilities, thanks to a collaboration with Magna, a leader in automotive manufacturing.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS, highlighted the vehicle’s dual powertrain approach as a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions. “The Fusilier is a great looking vehicle, and the two powertrain options provide a real-world reduction in carbon emissions without compromise to the off-road capability or the on-road performance,” Ratcliffe stated. He emphasized the importance of offering alternatives to purely battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to alleviate range anxiety and ensure versatility for drivers.

The announcement in London marked a pivotal moment for INEOS Automotive, reaffirming its commitment to zero-emission solutions, first promised in May 2022. The Fusilier aims to blend zero and low emission driving with unmatched performance, positioning itself as a key player in the push for automotive decarbonization.
In addition to the all-electric variant, the Fusilier will feature a range-extender electric option. This includes a small petrol engine that activates a generator to recharge the battery, ensuring longer drives without the need for external charging points. Details on this innovative powertrain and its market launch are expected by autumn 2024.
Developed in collaboration with Magna, the Fusilier benefits from the expertise of one of the world’s foremost automotive suppliers. Manufactured in Graz, Austria, the vehicle promises a unique combination of durability and efficiency, underpinned by a rigorous testing program on Austria’s Schöckl mountain.
Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, sees the introduction of the Fusilier as a testament to the company’s long-term vision in the automotive industry. “Announcing our third model line is another significant milestone for INEOS Automotive, cementing our intent as an automotive manufacturer – like our full vehicle line-up, we are here for the long-haul.”
Moreover, INEOS Automotive’s commitment to sustainable driving solutions was further demonstrated with the unveiling of a Grenadier Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology Demonstrator at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023. This initiative showcases the feasibility of hydrogen-powered 4X4s, pending the development of adequate refuelling infrastructure.
The INEOS Fusilier represents a forward-thinking approach to automotive design, offering drivers innovative powertrain options that align with global decarbonization goals while ensuring the adventure and performance that 4X4 enthusiasts seek.
