NIO launched the five-seat ES8 on July 9, 2026, pricing the Executive Premium trim from $56,500 and the Executive Signature from $62,400, with deliveries starting July 10.

NIO launched the five-seat version of its ES8 flagship SUV on July 9, 2026, with the Executive Premium trim priced from RMB 382,800 (about $56,500). The range-topping Executive Signature trim starts at RMB 422,800 (about $62,400), and both trims are available at a discount under NIO’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription, which separates the battery cost from the vehicle price. Deliveries of the ES8 Five-Seat Version begin July 10, 2026, rounding out a premium SUV lineup that now spans five-seat, six/seven-seat, and executive flagship configurations.

Existing NIO owners qualify for loyalty-point bonuses toward the purchase: the company is offering 30,000 points to current ES8 Founders’ Edition owners, 20,000 points to owners of other NIO models, and 10,000 points to ONVO and firefly owners. First owners also receive six years of complimentary connectivity service, a six-year or 93,200-mile (150,000-km) vehicle warranty, a 10-year unlimited-mileage powertrain warranty, and lifetime roadside assistance, according to the company.

Design and Cabin

The five-seat ES8 carries over NIO’s existing design language, including the X-Bar front fascia and Double-Dash daytime running lights. The company offers seven exterior colors with an optional obsidian trim package. Inside, the cabin features a Skyline screen, triple-layer ambient lighting, metallic speaker covers, and a wraparound second-row seating area.

Space and Cargo Capacity

NIO reports 75.9 square feet (7.05 m²) of usable interior space, which the company says is the largest in its class, alongside the segment-leading 47.1-cubic-foot (1,334-liter) rear trunk — more than double the capacity of a conventional large SUV, per NIO. The 8.1-cubic-foot (230-liter) front trunk holds two 20-inch suitcases and one 14-inch suitcase, and the company says the vehicle can carry 17 carry-on suitcases and four 14-inch suitcases with all five seats occupied. A modular cargo divider system supports more than 128 storage configurations, and a Haptex tri-fold parcel shelf and cargo partition separate the cabin from the load area.

Comfort and Entertainment

Both front seats offer a zero-gravity mode with 20-way power adjustment and power leg rests. Second-row seats recline up to 138 degrees and add power leg supports and footrests. A four-zone climate control system, an electric drawer fridge, and a zero-formaldehyde cabin round out the comfort package, alongside 18.3 square feet (1.7 m²) of electrochromic glass with three tint levels. NIO says its active road noise cancellation system cuts peak road noise by up to 8 decibels.

For audio and displays, the ES8 Five-Seat Version uses the NIO LYRA 8.1.4.2 Sound System, with 27 speakers and 2,600 watts of rated output, powered by Dirac Dimensions and Dirac RRM audio processing. A 15.6-inch dual-layer OLED center display and a 21.4-inch mini-LED overhead screen support triple Dolby-certified playback.

Performance and Chassis

The vehicle is built on NIO’s 900V high-voltage architecture with dual electric drive motors and a standard 102-kWh long-range battery, which the company says makes it about 573 pounds (260 kg) lighter than comparable vehicles in its segment. The company’s reported 407-mile (655-km) range reflects China’s CLTC test cycle rather than EPA methodology, which typically yields lower real-world range estimates for the US market. NIO’s PrimeRide Chassis System pairs flagship hardware with the company’s in-house Vehicle Motion Control system and includes Smart U-Turn, lane-level 4D Smart Suspension, and a Multi-Terrain Mode covering wet roads, sand, water crossings, mud, gravel, and snow.

Smart Driving and Safety Technology

The ES8 Five-Seat Version runs on NIO’s NT.Cedar smart system and the company’s NX9031 chip, which NIO describes as the world’s first 5-nanometer automotive-grade smart driving chip. The Cedar AQUILA Super Sensing system uses 31 sensors for what the company calls comprehensive 360-degree, all-weather perception, feeding NIO’s WorldModel driving system. Point-to-Point Navigate on Pilot Plus (NOP+) handles lane selection and traffic interaction, while Intent-Aware Wayfinding can guide the vehicle through parking-lot gates and ramps automatically.

On safety, NIO cites top ratings across all five China Insurance Automotive Safety Index (C-IASI) categories and a 62-mph (100-km/h) triple-direction consecutive collision test. The vehicle carries nine airbags and a safety cage the company describes as a six-longitudinal, 10-transverse, eight-vertical structure. Additional features include automatic pull-over after a high-speed tire blowout and an in-cabin Guardian Mode powered by foundation models.

William Li, NIO’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO, framed the launch as an extension of the ES8 nameplate’s role in the three-row segment. “Just as the ES8 helped usher premium large three-row SUVs into the battery electric era, the ES8 Five-Seat Version will accelerate the transition of premium large five-seat SUVs to battery electric,” Li said. NIO says more than 210,000 users have bought an ES8 across its three generations over eight years, and that the current six/seven-seat ES8 reached 120,000 deliveries in 275 days, ranking first in China’s large SUV segment and in the segment above RMB 400,000 for six consecutive months. The five-seat version joins the six/seven-seat ES8 and the flagship ES9 to round out NIO’s premium SUV lineup.
