Octillion Achieves 100% Solar Manufacturing in India

Octillion Power Systems has transitioned its Pune, India, manufacturing facility to 100 percent solar power. The site generates 545MWh annually, supporting the company's goal of carbon neutrality by 2027.

Octillion Power Systems has successfully converted its Pune, India, manufacturing facility to operate entirely on solar energy. This transition allows the California-based company to produce electric vehicle battery systems using 100 percent carbon-free power. It marks a significant milestone in Octillion’s strategy to ensure sustainability across the full lifecycle of its products.

Highlights

  • Pune facility now operates on 100% solar energy.
  • New installation generates 545MWh of clean power annually.
  • Company targets carbon neutrality across all India operations by 2027.

Facility Specifications and Capacity

The Pune plant covers approximately 8,200 square meters, roughly the size of two football pitches. It serves as a critical manufacturing hub for India’s expanding EV market, generating 3GWh of total annual battery capacity.

The newly installed rooftop solar system provides approximately 545MWh of dedicated clean energy per year. This output effectively covers the facility’s entire power requirement, closing the production loop by using clean energy to create clean energy storage solutions.

Timeline and Strategic Goals

Operations at the Pune facility began in June 2023. The solar conversion project commenced in June 2024 and reached full operational status in July 2025, just 13 months later.

This site is the first of Octillion’s three Indian factories to achieve full conversion. It anchors a broader initiative to make all domestic facilities carbon neutral via solar generation by 2027.

Executive Commentary

Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion, emphasized the importance of sustainable growth within India’s accelerating EV market. He noted that this conversion is just the beginning of the company’s journey toward carbon-neutral operations.

Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President, highlighted Octillion’s unique position in the sector. With three large-scale facilities in India—two in Pune and one in Gujarat—the company aims to support the national supply chain through volume, cost efficiency, and convenience.
