Octopus Fleet Unifies EV Fleet Charging Solutions

Octopus Energy launches Octopus Fleet, a modular platform combining public charging, home reimbursement, payment tools, and clean energy hardware to simplify UK fleet electrification.

Octopus Energy has launched Octopus Fleet, a consolidated platform designed to simplify fleet electrification for UK businesses. The product bundles public charging access, home charging reimbursement, payment tools, and clean energy installations into a single offering. It arrives as commercial fleets accounted for nearly one in four new EV registrations in the UK in 2024.

Highlights

  • Octopus Fleet combines charging, payments, and energy hardware into one modular platform for businesses at any stage of electrification.
  • A new Home Charging Reimbursement scheme automates driver reimbursement for business-related home charging sessions.
  • The platform integrates Electroverse access, connecting fleets to more than 1.3 million charge points across 50-plus countries.
  • UK fleet EV registrations represented roughly 25% of new EV sales in 2024, underscoring commercial demand.

What Octopus Fleet Includes

Businesses can select from a modular suite of products based on their operational needs. Available components include:

  • Electroverse network access — one-tap charging at over 1.3 million public charge points globally across more than 50 countries
  • Fleet Charging Card — streamlined public charging payments for fleets transitioning to electric
  • Visa-powered Business Payments Card — consolidated tracking and payment for charging, tolls, meals, and other on-the-road expenses
  • Hardware installations — EV chargers, rooftop solar panels, and battery storage systems for depot-level cost reduction

This modular approach allows fleets to scale their electrification efforts incrementally. Businesses can adopt individual products or combine multiple solutions as their EV operations grow.

Home Charging Reimbursement Simplifies Driver Experience

Alongside the platform launch, Octopus introduced a Home Charging Reimbursement scheme. The system targets a persistent pain point in fleet management — tracking and compensating drivers who charge company vehicles at home.

Drivers using compatible home EV chargers can designate each session as business or personal use. The platform then automatically reimburses the driver’s energy account for business charges on a monthly cycle. As a result, fleet managers receive a single consolidated invoice covering all charging activity.

This reduces administrative overhead and improves cost visibility. It also removes a common barrier to driver adoption of electric fleet vehicles.

Strategic Context for Fleet Electrification

Matt Davies, Director of Octopus Electroverse and Octopus Fleet, noted that while EV adoption has become easier, scaling fleet electrification remains a challenge. He emphasized that Octopus Fleet offers flexibility regardless of how a fleet operates, with options spanning public, home, and depot charging.

Meanwhile, Octopus continues to expand its EV charging ecosystem. The company’s Plunge Pricing feature, integrated into the Electroverse network, offers discounts of up to 50% during periods of high renewable energy availability on the grid.

About Electroverse

Electroverse launched in 2020 as Octopus Energy’s unified public charging solution. The platform provides access to over 1.3 million charge points from more than 1,300 charging operators across 50 countries through a single app and card. There are no added costs or ongoing fees. Octopus Energy customers can also link public charging to their home energy bill. Additionally, Electroverse supports the latest in-car charging technology.

The platform has earned industry recognition. Awards include Best EV Innovation at the Driving Electric Awards 2021, Mobile Innovation of the Year at the National Tech Awards 2024, and Best Consumer Proposition at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards 2024.
