Ohme, the United Kingdom’s largest and fastest-growing home electric vehicle (EV) charging company, has announced a new collaboration with energy provider E.ON Next. This partnership is set to provide more affordable home charging options and greater choice for a wider range of customers. E.ON Next, one of the UK’s leading energy providers, serves over five million customers and features an EV tariff with the market’s longest and lowest off-peak rate.

Key Highlights

  • A new partnership between Ohme and E.ON Next aims to lower home electric vehicle (EV) charging costs.
  • Customers who switch to the E.ON Next Drive tariff can receive a £75 credit on their energy account.
  • The tariff features a low off-peak rate of 6.7p/kWh for seven hours nightly.
  • The collaboration makes smart charging more accessible, helping to reduce costs and support the transition to e-mobility.

Details of the Customer Offer

Through this collaboration, new and existing Ohme customers who switch to the E.ON Next Drive tariff by the end of July 2025 will be eligible for a £75 credit on their energy account. The Next Drive tariff offers a highly competitive home charging rate of just 6.7p/kWh. This low rate is available for seven hours every night, from midnight until 7 a.m.

The potential savings are significant. For example, charging a smart #1 vehicle with a 49kWh battery from empty to full overnight with an Ohme charger could cost as little as £3.29. This would provide the vehicle with its full 193-mile range under optimal conditions.

A Commitment to Affordable E-Mobility

Leaders from both companies have emphasized their shared goal of making the transition to electric vehicles easier and more affordable. Jean Coleman, Commercial Director at E.ON Next, described Ohme as a “progressive EV charging company” and noted that the Next Drive tariff will help more customers access “smarter and cheaper overnight charging.” She added that the company’s objective is to ensure “no driver is left behind in the e-mobility transition.”

David Watson, CEO of Ohme, stated, “Ohme is committed to bringing affordable home charging to as many EV drivers as possible by connecting them with the UK’s best electricity tariffs.” He views the customer offer with E.ON Next as a major step in helping drivers access the market’s best rates.

Industry-Leading Technology and Partnerships

Founded in 2017, Ohme is at the forefront of the EV charging industry with its dynamic smart charging system. This technology helps users charge their vehicles during off-peak times to reduce both their expenses and their environmental impact. The company’s potential to reduce carbon emissions has led outside investors to name it a “gigacorn,” a company capable of removing one gigatonne of CO2 from the atmosphere annually.

Ohme’s prominent market position is further solidified by its role as the official charger provider for major automotive brands in the UK and Ireland, including Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars, the Volkswagen Group, Smart, and Hyundai. It is also the exclusive charger provider for the Motability scheme, the largest fleet operator in the UK.
