OMODA&JAECOO has begun mass production of the OMODA 4, a compact hybrid SUV positioned as the flagship of the brand’s Globalization 2.0 strategy and aimed at younger global buyers. The Chery-owned brand marked the milestone at its “From Million To Annual Million Launch Event and OMODA 4 Roll-off Ceremony” on April 26, 2026, in Wuhu, China. The model anchors the company’s stated push toward annual sales of one million units by 2027.
Highlights
- Mass production begins for the OMODA 4, OMODA&JAECOO’s new B-segment SUV
- Multi-energy lineup planned, with hybrid and battery-electric variants for global markets
- 16 ADAS driver-assist features, 13.2-inch central screen, and 50W wireless charging standard
- Sportier OMODA 4 Ultra to follow with Super Hybrid System (SHS) powertrain

Multi-Energy Powertrain Strategy
OMODA&JAECOO has not detailed the launch powertrain in this announcement, but earlier brand previews and reporting indicate the OMODA 4 will be sold with a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid system shared with the OMODA 5 and Jaecoo 7, producing a combined 224 hp. A full battery-electric variant is expected to follow, likely using the 204 hp motor and 61 kWh battery from the OMODA E5 with roughly 260 miles of range.
The performance-focused OMODA 4 Ultra will use the brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor delivering 204 PS and 310 Nm. Reported 0–100 km/h figures sit between 7.8 and 7.9 seconds. UK and European launches are expected in the second half of 2026.
Cabin Tech and ADAS Package
OMODA&JAECOO is positioning the OMODA 4 around what it calls a “starship-themed cockpit.” Standard hardware includes a 13.2-inch center display, a 540-degree panoramic camera system, and 50W wireless phone charging. The in-vehicle system also ships with more than 20 pre-installed games and supports wireless gamepad pairing.
On the safety side, the OMODA 4 includes 16 ADAS driver-assist features covering driving and parking scenarios. The company said an AI-powered voice assistant built on a large language model “will soon be available in the vehicle,” with future capabilities expected to include voice cloning and mood-based music recommendations. Functionality and rollout timing for that feature have not been confirmed.

Strategic Context
The OMODA 4 launch lands during the Chery International Business Summit in Beijing and follows the brand’s announcement that it has surpassed one million cumulative global sales. OMODA&JAECOO now sells in 64 markets across Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Parent company Chery Group ranked 233rd on the 2025 Fortune Global 500.
The OMODA 4 sits below the OMODA 5 and the larger OMODA 9 SHS plug-in hybrid in the brand’s lineup, targeting the Ford Puma, Renault Captur, and Toyota C-HR segment. UK pricing is expected to start under £25,000 (approximately $33,400 USD at the April 28, 2026 exchange rate of £1 = $1.34).
