The Opel Grandland Electric AWD marks the German automaker’s first all-electric vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive. The SUV pairs a 157 kW (213 hp) front motor with an 83 kW (112 hp) rear unit to deliver 239 kW (325 hp) combined output and 509 Nm of torque.
Opel has equipped the vehicle with frequency selective damping technology as standard, along with four selectable driving modes designed for varying conditions and efficiency requirements.
Highlights
- Dual-motor configuration delivers 239 kW (325 hp) system output with 343 Nm front and 166 Nm rear torque distribution
- 73 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery provides up to 502 km WLTP range with 20-80% fast charging in under 30 minutes
- Frequency selective damping adapts suspension characteristics based on road surface frequency inputs
- Four driving modes include 4WD, Normal, Sport, and Eco with distinct power and torque parameters

Powertrain and Torque Distribution
The Grandland Electric AWD combines two independent electric motors. The front axle receives 343 Nm while the rear axle contributes 166 Nm, with instant torque availability from standstill.
The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. A drag coefficient of 0.278 makes the Electric AWD the most aerodynamically efficient variant in the Grandland Electric lineup.
Driving Mode Specifications
The 4WD mode operates both motors continuously with even power distribution across all wheels. ESP and traction control systems adopt specific calibrations for enhanced grip on snow, ice, and slippery surfaces.
Three additional modes provide flexibility for varying conditions:
- Normal Mode: Front motor priority with 230 kW (313 hp) maximum and 450 Nm torque limit; rear motor engages automatically during high-demand situations
- Sport Mode: Continuous dual-motor operation with 60:40 front-rear power distribution; sport-calibrated steering and accelerator response
- Eco Mode: Front motor priority limited to 157 kW (213 hp) and 343 Nm; optimized air conditioning and accelerator settings for efficiency

Chassis Technology
The frequency selective damping system incorporates a second hydraulic circuit within the damper chamber. This configuration mechanically adapts damping force relative to input frequency.
High-frequency inputs from uneven surfaces produce comfortable damping characteristics. Low-frequency inputs during dynamic driving deliver firmer, more direct road contact. Opel has applied specific spring, anti-roll bar, steering, and ESC tuning calibrations.
Battery and Charging
The 73 kWh usable lithium-ion NMC battery pack enables up to 502 km of WLTP-rated range. DC fast charging replenishes the battery from 20% to 80% state of charge in under 30 minutes.
Combined energy consumption measures 17.9 kWh/100 km under WLTP testing protocols.

Additional Features
The Grandland Electric AWD offers available Intelli-Lux HD adaptive lighting, which Opel plans to introduce on the new Opel Astra. The award-winning lighting technology provides glare-free illumination for oncoming traffic.
Pricing starts at €51,750 (RRP including VAT in Germany).
