Polestar is introducing its Polestar 5 electric performance GT into the Gran Turismo 7 driving simulator. The vehicle was showcased at the GT World Series event in Los Angeles.
It will be available to all PlayStation 4 and 5 players via a free game update in December 2025.
Highlights
- Polestar and Polyphony Digital collaborated to create a precise digital representation of the Polestar 5.
- Professional sim-racer Igor Fraga provided vehicle dynamics feedback from real-world prototype testing.
- Polestar claims the simulation allows in-game lap times to be directly comparable to real-world performance.
- The partnership includes a special time trial competition and a YouTube documentary on the collaboration.
A Collaborative Digital Replication
Polestar and Polyphony Digital, a Sony Interactive Entertainment subsidiary, shared access to their development facilities and teams. The goal was to create a wholly accurate digital model of the Polestar 5.
Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo Series Producer, stated the collaboration was a positive experience. He noted Polestar’s care in crafting the car’s driving experience for the simulation.
Translating Real-World Dynamics
To ensure precision, the teams utilized professional racing and sim-driver Igor Fraga.
Fraga gained special access to Polestar 5 prototypes and R&D experts at Polestar’s facilities in Sweden. Final validation testing occurred at the Brands Hatch circuit in England.
Polyphony Digital’s experts applied this real-world vehicle feedback to their handling and dynamics simulation.
Joakim Rydholm, Head of Driving Dynamics at Polestar, stated the digital car replicates the “behind-the-wheel experience.” Polestar asserts that lap times in the simulator and in real life are directly comparable.

Continued Partnership and Events
The Gran Turismo franchise has surpassed 100 million sales. Polestar’s partnership with Polyphony Digital is planned to continue for multiple years.
Coinciding with the December update, a special Polestar time trial event will launch in Gran Turismo 7.
The winner of this event will receive a trip to Fukuoka, Japan, for the 2025 GT World Series World Finals.
A documentary detailing the physical and digital collaboration will be released on Polestar’s YouTube channel when the time trial begins.
