PULSETRAIN, a Munich-based innovator, has raised €6.1 million in seed funding to enhance electric vehicle (EV) battery performance and lifespan. Led by Vsquared Ventures and Planet A, with Climate Club joining in, the round will fuel development of technology that extends battery life by up to 80%. This promises safer, more powerful, and cost-effective EVs, accelerating the shift to sustainable mobility.
Key Highlights:
- Funding: €6.1 million seed round
- Investors: Vsquared Ventures, Planet A, Climate Club
- Tech Edge: Up to 80% longer battery life
- Focus: Two-wheelers and commercial vehicles first
A Game-Changing Approach
Unlike traditional systems that tweak individual parts, PULSETRAIN integrates the Battery Management System (BMS), inverter, and charging electronics into one “In-Battery” solution. Powered by a multilevel inverter and AI, this setup boosts energy efficiency and cuts unnecessary components. The result? EVs that last longer—think 18 years instead of 10—while staying safer and cheaper to produce.
Beyond the Battery
PULSETRAIN isn’t stopping there. They’re building an AI-driven platform for real-time data analysis, unlocking smarter fleet management, charging control, and even grid integration. It’s a holistic rethink of how EVs operate.
What They’re Saying
Co-founder Thomas Plaschko explains: “PULSETRAIN unites these three fields of expertise, developing a new, more powerful, software-driven architecture designed for e-mobility. We reduce weight, increase battery lifespan, and simultaneously lower costs. This allows manufacturers to produce lighter, more efficient, and cost-optimised vehicles, while our product’s technological openness enables them to tailor it precisely to their needs. This makes us unique in the market.”
Patrick Tucci of Vsquared Ventures adds: “PULSETRAIN delivers the disruptive innovation that will enable the Western automotive industry to remain competitive in the highly contested global market. Only with PULSETRAIN’s completely new approach to battery systems can manufacturers produce better and more cost-effective electric vehicles. Given the latest advancements in semiconductor technology and AI, now is the perfect moment to bring and scale this technology in the market.”
Nick de la Forge from Planet A says: “PULSETRAIN solves one of the biggest barriers to full-scale EV adoption today: performance. The team’s technology dramatically enhances battery efficiency, making EVs better, cheaper, and truly competitive. With resource efficiency and sustainable supply chains at the heart of the EU’s agenda for clean industrial growth, PULSETRAIN is positioned to play an instrumental role in accelerating the transition.”
Road Ahead
Starting with two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, PULSETRAIN is already collaborating on test vehicles and production plans. The goal? Scale up to automotive, aviation, agriculture, and shipping—anywhere EVs can thrive. With demand for sustainable powertrains surging, the timing couldn’t be better.
The Team Behind It
Founded by battery sector veterans Leopold König, Thomas Plaschko, and Niclas Lehnert, PULSETRAIN blends decades of experience with a bold vision. Backed by over 40 specialized employees and a robust industry network, they’re poised to reshape electromobility.
