Renault unveiled the production version of the Trafic Van E-Tech electric at Solutrans 2025 in Lyon, France. This medium-duty electric van is the first Renault model to adopt Ampere’s Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture. It also introduces 800 V electrical architecture and fast-charging capability to the brand’s LCV range.
The all-electric medium van enters production at the Sandouville plant in France, with market launch scheduled for late 2026.
Highlights
- Up to 450 km WLTP range with NMC long-range battery (pending homologation).
- 800V architecture enables 15-80% charge in about 20 minutes.
- 150 kW motor with 345 Nm torque; payload up to 1.25 tonnes and towing capacity of 2 tonnes (pending homologation).
- SDV platform with over-the-air updates and V2L/V2G bidirectional charging.

Platform and Dimensions
The Trafic Van E-Tech electric uses a dedicated electric skateboard platform with rear-mounted powertrain and minimal front overhang.
This design optimizes interior volume while maintaining compact exterior dimensions and agility.
Key measurements include:
- L1 version: 4.87 m length, 5.1 m³ load volume.
- L2 version: 5.27 m length (400 mm longer wheelbase), 5.8 m³ load volume.
- Overall height: 1.90 m for underground parking access.
- Width: 1.92 m.
- Turning circle: 10.3 m.
Large side and rear doors accommodate Euro pallets.
Powertrain and Battery Options
Renault offers two battery packs produced in Europe and assembled in France.
Long-range option (available at launch):
- NMC chemistry for highest energy density.
- Up to 450 km WLTP range.
Urban option (available later):
- LFP chemistry (no cobalt or nickel).
- Around 350 km WLTP range.
Both support 800V DC fast charging, recovering approximately 260 km in 20 minutes (15-80%).
The 150 kW electric motor delivers efficient performance for commercial use.

Design Features
Exterior styling combines aerodynamic one-box shape with robust black grained plastic elements featuring laser-etched patterns.
Key elements include a front light strip, backlit logo, 3D rear light signature, and visor-style windscreen.
Interior adopts a tube-shaped dashboard with 10-inch driver display and 12-inch central touchscreen angled toward the driver.
Storage exceeds 50 liters across multiple compartments, including plant-based material zones.
Recycled content targets over 23% by vehicle mass (including battery) and over 15% recycled plastics.
SDV Architecture and Connectivity
Ampere’s CAR OS, based on Android Automotive, centralizes computing for remote updates via FOTA.
Features include optional OpenR evo with Google built-in, predictive maintenance using AI, fleet ecosystem integration, and apps via Google Play.
Safety systems incorporate Safety Coach for real-time scoring and Safety Monitor display.
The My Renault app enables charge scheduling, preconditioning, and remote vehicle management.
