Siemens Unveils SICHARGE FLEX EV Charger

Siemens introduces its SICHARGE FLEX distributed EV charging system. The next-gen platform offers megawatt-level power, dynamic distribution, and flexible dispenser options for fleet, depot, and en-route applications.

Siemens has unveiled the SICHARGE FLEX product family, its next-generation electric vehicle (EV) distributed charging system. The new platform is engineered for flexibility, reliability, and economy, making it adaptable for a wide variety of use cases, from fleet depots to en-route charging stations.

Key Highlights

  • New SICHARGE FLEX system delivers 480 kW to 1.68 MW of DC power.
  • Features fully dynamic power distribution with up to 1,500 A of charging current.
  • Dispenser options can be placed up to 300 meters from the central power cabinet.
  • Supports both CCS and MCS charging standards, with up to four MCS charge points per system.
  • The first system has been ordered by pilot customer OMV for a project in Kufstein, Austria.

Advanced Power and Flexibility

The SICHARGE FLEX system introduces new benchmarks in technical performance. Its core feature is a pioneering fully dynamic power distribution system that intelligently allocates power across multiple charging points based on real-time vehicle demand. This ensures that power groups are routable to all outlets, delivering the right power at the right time.

The system offers a wide power range, from 480 kW to over 1.68 megawatts, enabling charge points to deliver power in 80/120 kW increments. It supports both CCS and MCS charging standards and can deliver up to 1,500 A of charging current through its MCS dispenser. This capacity allows for the rapid charging of large electric vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and buses.

The platform also features an industry-leading power density of up to 656 kW/m², providing high-capacity charging within a compact footprint. This design, combined with a front-in, front-out cooling system, allows for wall placements, which is a critical advantage in space-constrained environments. Additionally, dispensers can be placed up to 300 meters away from the central power cabinet and can be floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or overhead-mounted to fit any site layout.

“This solution embodies our vision for a future where EV charging is not only fast and reliable, but also seamlessly integrated and highly efficient,” said Markus Mildner, CEO eMobility, Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

Future-Proof Technology and User-Centric Innovation

Engineered for long-term reliability, the SICHARGE FLEX family features a user-centric design to simplify installation and maintenance. The system seamlessly integrates with existing Siemens eMobility ecosystems. The cloud-based monitoring solution, Sifinity Control, gives operators full visibility and remote control of their charging infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime.

For depot operators, integration with DepotFinity’s smart energy management optimizes fleet charging, even with limited grid capacity. This intelligent energy control, combined with dynamic power distribution, helps lower the total cost of ownership.

Early Market Adoption and Customer Confidence

The SICHARGE FLEX system has already attracted significant interest from key industry players. OMV, a leading Charge Point Operator (CPO) and Mobility Service Provider (MSP), has placed an order for the system. The site in Kufstein, Austria, is a strategically important location along a corridor connecting Germany and Italy and will serve passenger cars as well as eTrucks and eBuses.

“The new site in Kufstein is a prime example of how we combine strategic location planning with cutting-edge technology to deliver real value: fast charging for eTrucks, eBuses and passenger cars, seamless user experience, and future-ready scalability,” said Eric Schulze, Senior Vice President of Retail Mobility & Convenience at OMV.

Commitment to Sustainability and Security

The SICHARGE FLEX system reflects a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability by enabling highly efficient energy use and optimized power utilization. Its design offers grid-balancing capabilities, enhancing the stability of energy networks. Furthermore, the system is developed with Siemens’ robust “Security by Design” principles, which include foundational cybersecurity measures to protect data and ensure system integrity.

Availability

The SICHARGE FLEX product family will be available for purchase in 2026. Siemens eMobility is positioned to support customers, including transportation companies, CPOs, and OEMs, in deploying the transformative charging solution across various applications.
