StoreDot XFC Cells Achieve UN 38.3 Safety Certification

StoreDot’s ‘100-in-5’ XFC cylindrical cells achieve UN 38.3 certification, confirming transport safety and enabling shipments to global OEMs—advancing 10-minute EV charging toward commercial reality.

StoreDot has reached a major commercialization milestone as its ‘100-in-5’ extreme fast-charging (XFC) cylindrical cells successfully pass the UN 38.3 transportation safety standard. The 4695-form-factor cells are now being shipped to global automotive OEM partners for integration into next-generation electric vehicle platforms.

Highlights

  • UN 38.3 certification achieved, authorizing global air, sea, and land transport of StoreDot’s XFC 4695 cells.
  • 10-minute charging validated, enabling up to 100 miles of range in five minutes.
  • Cycle life exceeds 3,000 XFC cycles, maintaining over 80% capacity retention.
  • Shipments to global OEMs mark the transition from R&D to commercialization.

Certification Marks Step Toward Mass Deployment

The UN 38.3 certification confirms the safety and robustness of StoreDot’s silicon-dominant cell chemistry and design, a prerequisite for international logistics and mass production. According to CEO Dr. Doron Myersdorf, “Passing the comprehensive safety standard is a critical proof point for our technology. We are now shipping cells to our OEM partners, marking a new era where 10-minute charging is a tangible reality.”

Proven Durability and Scalability

Testing continues to demonstrate exceptional longevity, with StoreDot’s cylindrical XFC cells projected to surpass 3,000 consecutive 10-to-80% charge cycles while maintaining more than 80% of initial capacity. These metrics significantly outperform current industry standards, reinforcing the commercial readiness of silicon-dominant XFC technology for mainstream EV adoption.

Advancing the ‘100-in-X’ Roadmap

The milestone aligns with StoreDot’s product roadmap targeting:

  • 100 miles in 5 minutes by 2024
  • 100 miles in 4 minutes by 2026
  • 100 miles in 3 minutes by 2028

Each step aims to shorten charging times while preserving energy density, safety, and lifecycle stability.
