Subaru Solterra Achieves Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

The all-electric Subaru Solterra secures a five-star Euro NCAP rating, excelling in adult and child occupant safety while demonstrating robust performance in autonomous braking and lane support technologies.

Subaru Europe has announced that the new all-electric Subaru Solterra achieved a maximum five-star overall rating in the 2025 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). The vehicle registered scores exceeding the minimum threshold in all four assessment areas: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users, and Safety Assist.

Highlights

  • Adult Safety: Driver and passenger safety reached 88% with top scores in rear impact and side mobile barrier tests.
  • Child Protection: The vehicle attained an 85% rating in Child Occupant safety, securing maximum points for lateral impact.
  • Assist Systems: Top scores were awarded for Lane Support and Seatbelt Reminder performance.

Adult Occupant Protection Analysis

In the Adult Occupant assessment, the Solterra delivered strong results, scoring maximum points in occupant interaction and side mobile barrier tests. This score reflects good protection across all critical body areas.

Testing confirmed that the passenger compartment remained stable during frontal offset impacts. Dummy readings indicated good protection for the knees and femurs of both the driver and front passenger.

Data further demonstrated that occupants of varying sizes and seating positions receive a similar level of protection. Front seats and head restraints showed good whiplash protection in rear-end collisions, while rear seat design indicated comparable safety for back-seat passengers.

Child Occupant Safety Performance

The Solterra achieved maximum points in the Child Restraint System (CRS) installation check. It also attained maximum points for lateral impact protection.

During the frontal offset test, protection was rated as good for the 6-year-old dummy. In side barrier impacts, all critical body regions were well protected for both child dummies.

The vehicle accommodates all child restraint types designed for the Solterra, ensuring they can be correctly installed. Additionally, the vehicle features a Rear Seat Reminder system to alert drivers to check rear seats if a door was opened before driving.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The Subaru Solterra attained maximum points for Lane Support and Seatbelt Reminder performance. It nearly achieved maximum points in the AEB Car-to-Car assessment.

The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system performed well in tests regarding reaction to other vehicles, contributing to collision avoidance. Lane support systems, such as Lane Tracing Assist, intervene in critical situations and correct the vehicle path if it drifts.
