Vehicle Outline
New-Generation Plug-in Hybrid System
The RAV4 PHEV features a new-generation plug-in hybrid system, a Toyota first as of February 2026. It achieves world-leading energy efficiency in the mid-size SUV class according to Toyota research as of December 2025. The system incorporates a newly developed large-capacity battery with significantly increased capacity.
This setup enables a maximum output of 242 kW (329 PS). It delivers the RAV4’s signature fun and powerful driving experience. The plug-in system remains considerate of the environment.
Improved BEV-Mode Driving Range
BEV-mode driving range reaches approximately 150 km on a full charge. This marks an increase from approximately 95 km in conventional models. Silicon carbide semiconductors in the power control unit reduce power loss alongside the larger battery.
Zero-emission travel covers the majority of daily activities. These include commuting, shopping, and short trips.
Power Supply System for Outdoor Use
The power supply system utilizes the large-capacity battery for purposes beyond driving. It powers household appliances outdoors. An outlet installed in the luggage area provides in-vehicle use.
The included vehicle power connector turns the charging inlet into a 100 V external power socket. It delivers up to 1,500 W total. The connector cannot be used while driving.
In emergencies such as power outages, HV Power Supply Mode provides electricity for approximately 6.5 days at 400 W load from full battery and tank. Power Supply Time Priority Mode extends this to approximately 7 days based on in-house simulator tests.
Z Grade PHEV Design
The Z grade receives special PHEV styling with black accents around the front, underbody, and wheel arches. These exclusive features enhance its advanced and sporty appearance. The front lower bumper uses piano black finish with a special LED accent light.
GR SPORT Grade
The GR SPORT brings sporty style and PHEV power to more customers. It pursues a sporty style while offering the unique power and excellent maneuverability of a PHEV. This model completes the diverse range of styles for the RAV4: Z (PHEV / HEV), Adventure (HEV), and GR SPORT (PHEV).
It utilizes the drive battery as a reinforcing member to boost body rigidity and lower the center of gravity. GR Performance Dampers and GR Braces further enhance stability and controllability.
Aerodynamic Design Elements
Special front lip spoiler and wing-type rear spoiler pursue functional beauty and aerodynamic balance. Repeated CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing create downforce at low, medium, and high speeds. A special rear side spoiler completes the package.
Performance Equipment
- GR Performance Dampers reduce body deformation and unpleasant torsion
- GR Braces enhance direct steering feel through rear suspension reinforcement
- Specially tuned suspension delivers outstanding stability and controllability
- Special EPS tuning provides responsive steering in Drive Mode Select settings
