U Power Limited, a leader in AI-powered energy and transportation solutions, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with a Hong Kong-based technology company to deploy 300 battery-swapping compatible electric vehicles (EVs). This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing sustainable mobility in Hong Kong, leveraging U Power’s innovative UOTTA™ battery-swapping technology. The agreement aims to enhance driver productivity and reduce carbon emissions through an efficient, eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.
Key Highlights
- 300 EVs Ordered: The client will purchase 300 MGEP swappable-battery EVs, with an initial deposit already submitted.
- Smart Battery-Swapping Station: Drivers will use U Power’s recently launched Hong Kong station for quick battery swaps.
- Incentive Structure: Each swap earns drivers tokens, redeemable for electricity tariff credits, promoting sustainable usage.
- Environmental Impact: The initiative supports Hong Kong’s shift toward greener, smarter mobility solutions.
- Strategic Growth: U Power aims to scale its battery-swapping platform globally, driving diversified revenue streams.
The LOI outlines the client’s commitment to acquiring 300 MGEP EVs, with the deal pending final negotiations and a definitive sales agreement. Once finalized, these vehicles will enter commercial operation, utilizing U Power’s smart battery-swapping station in Hong Kong. This station, launched in June, allows drivers to swap batteries efficiently, earning tokens that can be traded for electricity tariff credits. This innovative incentive model encourages sustainable practices while enhancing operational efficiency for drivers.

The Hong Kong-based client, a designer and manufacturer of vehicle dashcams, emphasized the potential of U Power’s technology. A spokesperson noted, “We see strong potential in U Power’s innovative battery-swapping ecosystem.” The partnership aligns with the client’s goals of improving operational efficiency and reducing their carbon footprint, contributing to Hong Kong’s vision for smarter, greener mobility.
U Power’s CEO, Johnny Lee, highlighted the milestone’s significance, stating, “This collaboration underscores our technological leadership and market presence.” The company’s UOTTA™ technology enables rapid scaling of its battery-swapping platform, transforming global partnerships into revenue from both vehicle sales and battery-swapping services. U Power is committed to driving innovation, with plans to expand in Hong Kong and other strategic markets, delivering cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions.
U Power has evolved from a distributor of battery-swapping stations to a provider of AI-integrated energy solutions. Its ecosystem connects EVs with advanced energy infrastructure, optimizing grid performance and supporting autonomous EV driving. By incorporating AI algorithms, U Power enhances energy replenishment efficiency and balances peak and off-peak energy loads, positioning itself as a leader in intelligent transportation systems.
