Unibuss, a leading public transport provider in Norway, has expanded its electric bus infrastructure with 20 additional ABB E-mobility high-power chargers, increasing its total to 70 chargers. This upgrade supports 1,400 daily zero-emission trips, serving over 70 million passengers annually in Oslo and surrounding areas. The initiative aligns with Oslo’s ambitious goal to achieve fully emission-free public transport by 2028, reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainability.

Advanced Charging for Reliable Operations
The expanded infrastructure, provided by ABB E-mobility, ensures reliable operations even in Nordic winter conditions. Testing during the 2024/25 winter season demonstrated near-perfect operational regularity at 99.9%. This reliability is critical for Unibuss, which operates a vast network transporting millions annually. The chargers integrate advanced hardware and software, enabling efficient and seamless charging for electric buses.
Comprehensive Service Agreement
Unibuss has strengthened its partnership with ABB E-mobility through a Service Level Agreement (SLA). This agreement provides 24/7 remote monitoring and on-site support, ensuring uninterrupted service for Unibuss’s system-critical operations. According to Glenn Gaalaas, Head of Fleet & Infrastructure at Unibuss, the SLA offers confidence in electric operations through proactive and immediate support, vital for serving passengers daily.
Driving Sustainability Forward
With 90% of its Oslo fleet electrified and 60% of its total fleet running on electricity, Unibuss has achieved a 95% CO2 emissions reduction on Oslo routes since 2018. Plans to electrify additional depots by 2030 will further advance Oslo’s sustainability goals. Bruno Bourguet, President EMEA and Channel at ABB E-mobility, emphasized the partnership’s role in creating cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable transport for thousands of passengers.
