VinFast will bring its electric buses to the U.S. market through NexMove, with homologated vehicles expected to begin delivering to customers in the first quarter of 2028. VinFast announced the plan at the APTA 2026 TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago this week after signing an initial partnership agreement with NexMove, a joint venture of Transportation Management Services (TMS) and Zeem Solutions. Under the deal, NexMove will offer VinFast e-buses to U.S. customers as a service.
Highlights
- Q1 2028: Expected start of deliveries of certified, homologated VinFast e-buses to U.S. customers
- 97% uptime: Service level agreement NexMove says it intends to offer
- About 2,000: VinFast electric buses operating in Vietnam today, according to the company
- 400,000+ charging sessions: Completed by Zeem Solutions at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) over three and a half years, with more than 98% uptime
How Will NexMove Deliver VinFast E-Buses?
NexMove packages the e-bus, charging, maintenance and operations into a single agreement. The companies say this as-a-service model allows a controlled rollout, with NexMove delivering the full stack of services to each customer.
Before certified deliveries begin, NexMove will place demonstration units at Zeem’s EV charging depots so fleet operators and transit agencies can evaluate the buses in person. These demonstration buses are non-homologated and intended for evaluation only.
NexMove was founded by Frank Sherman, founder and chairman of TMS, and Paul Gioupis, founder and CEO of Zeem Solutions, which specializes in charging infrastructure and services for commercial fleets. TMS brings more than 30 years of passenger transportation planning and operations experience, having served approximately 140 million people across more than 5,500 events.
VinFast E-Bus Features
VinFast says its electric buses are designed for urban transit and include:
- Driver assistance: Camera- and radar-based systems that provide real-time safety alerts
- LFP battery technology with fast charging
- Anti-corrosion protection
- Connectivity: Communication features for staff and passengers, plus intelligent charging, maintenance and service tools
The company also cites a competitive warranty and low total cost of ownership.
Operating History in Vietnam
VinFast reports that it builds, operates and maintains an electric bus ecosystem across major Vietnamese cities, with roughly 2,000 buses in service. The company has also said it will expand its e-bus business to Europe and has established a distribution network in key markets.
