Strategic Expansion into the U.S. Market
The opening of VinFast San Diego marks a key development in the automaker’s plan to build a robust dealership network. California has been identified as a top-priority state due to its significant potential for electric vehicle (EV) growth. Customers at the new location can explore, test drive, and purchase VinFast’s VF 8 mid-size SUV and the VF 9 full-size, 3-row SUV.
To ensure a high standard of service, VinFast is providing in-depth training for the VinFast San Diego team. This program focuses on developing a skilled workforce with deep expertise in VinFast products, maintenance, and repair procedures. The partnership leverages Sunroad Automotive’s strong reputation and deep understanding of the local market to establish a solid presence in the region.
Business Model and Network Growth
In late 2023, VinFast began a strategic transition to a dealership sales model to optimize operations and enhance market position. The company has decided to fully adopt a franchise dealership model across all 50 states to maximize business efficiency. To date, VinFast has established a network of more than 30 authorized dealerships in 15 key states, including Texas, Florida, and New York.
Mike Nolte, Vice President of Sales for VinFast US, stated that the California partnership “underscores our ambition to expand our reach and optimize all operations to deliver smart, high-quality products and superior after-sales service to American consumers.”
Competitive Offerings and Global Vision
VinFast is making its EVs more accessible with compelling sales policies in the U.S. market. The VF 8 has a starting MSRP of $39,900, with lease options as low as $269 per month. The larger VF 9 starts at an MSRP of $62,900, with leasing programs from $449 per month. Both models are eligible for an attractive 0% interest financing offer.
A key differentiator for the brand is its industry-leading warranty, which includes 10 years or 125,000 miles for the vehicle and a 10-year, unlimited-mileage warranty for the battery for non-commercial use. As VinFast solidifies its presence in North America, it also continues its global expansion into high-potential markets in Asia and the Middle East, reinforcing its mission to drive the global green revolution.
