XCharge and Electromin Partner on Saudi EV Charging

XCharge partners with Electromin to deploy GridLink battery-integrated charging technology across Saudi Arabia, supporting Vision 2030 goals with systems requiring minimal grid input.

XCharge Europe and XCharge North America, subsidiaries of NASDAQ-listed XCHG Limited, have announced a strategic partnership with Electromin to deploy battery-integrated charging infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. Electromin operates the Kingdom’s largest EV charging network and serves as exclusive distributor for Volvo Cars in the region.

The partnership supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets of 30% electric vehicle adoption in Riyadh by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2060. The deployment focuses on addressing infrastructure challenges in locations with limited grid capacity.

Highlights

  • XCharge’s GridLink system delivers nearly 200 kW of DC fast-charging power while drawing only 44 kW from the grid
  • Battery capacity scales from 215 kWh to 430 kWh, enabling operation during grid outages
  • Electromin will provide complete turnkey solutions including installation, commissioning, and maintenance services
  • The system incorporates liquid-cooled thermal management designed for extreme Middle Eastern conditions

The partnership centers on XCharge’s GridLink system, which features a patented 215 kWh battery pack. The technology enables high-power charging at gas stations, supermarkets, and remote locations where conventional grid connections would prove cost-prohibitive.

Key technical capabilities include:

  • Power output: Nearly 200 kW DC fast-charging
  • Grid input requirement: 44 kW
  • Battery capacity: 215 kWh standard, scalable to 430 kWh with second battery
  • Display: Integrated 55-inch screen for advertising and user interface
  • Solar integration: Direct DC fast-charging from on-site solar generation

Electromin selected XCharge based on the company’s decade of e-mobility experience, hardware and software R&D capabilities, and GridLink’s minimal grid requirements.

Safety and Communication Features

The GridLink system incorporates safety features specifically relevant for Middle Eastern deployment conditions.

Thermal management specifications include:

  • Cooling system: Liquid-cooled design providing 2.38 times more heat dissipation surface than standard configurations
  • Hazard detection: Four sensors per battery pack for early warning
  • Gas management: Automated ventilation systems for flammable gas dispersal
  • Fire protection: Built-in suppression technology

Communication standards supported include OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1, with connectivity options via GSM, LTE, or LAN for integration with existing charging network management platforms.
