Caverion and ADS-TEC Energy are extending their partnership to Denmark and Sweden, following their successful collaboration in Norway. This expansion aims to enhance the availability of ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions in the Nordic region.
Key Highlights:
- ADS-TEC Energy’s battery-buffered fast charging solutions enable charging up to 320 kW, even on limited grids.
- Caverion is a leader in public charging stations in Norway, installing one in three fast charging stations in the country in 2023.
- The partnership focuses on upgrading low-capacity charging points to high-capacity solutions without expensive grid expansions.
Expanded Partnership Details
ADS-TEC Energy and Caverion are broadening their cooperation to include Denmark and Sweden. This move comes just weeks after solidifying their agreement for Norway. ADS-TEC Energy specializes in providing battery-buffered fast charging solutions, which facilitate ultra-fast EV charging on constrained power grids. These solutions are particularly effective in both urban and rural areas, where grid capacity may be limited.
Caverion, which dominates the Norwegian market for public charging stations, installed one-third of the fast charging stations in the country in 2023. With the new agreement, Caverion will utilize ADS-TEC Energy’s technology to upgrade existing low-capacity charging points to high-capacity ones.
Benefits of the ADS-TEC Energy Solution
ADS-TEC Energy’s ChargeBox and ChargePost systems incorporate integrated batteries, delivering fast charging without the need for extensive grid upgrades. These systems can provide several times the charging capacity of the grid connection, enabling EVs to be charged in minutes. Additionally, the solutions offer the flexibility of being positioned up to 300 meters from the grid connection.
Market Impact and Future Potential
Caverion’s e-mobility team sees significant opportunities with ADS-TEC Energy’s solutions. “The limited capacity of the power grid is an obstacle to the use of fast-charging stations in many places. With this solution, it is possible to set up ultra-fast charging,” says Ove Kjelby, Head of Sales e-mobility at Caverion.
ADS-TEC Energy and Caverion have been collaborating in Norway since February 2024. This successful experience has prompted the expansion of their partnership to additional Nordic countries. ADS-TEC Energy’s Managing Director, Thomas Speidel, expressed optimism about the long-term potential of this cooperation, citing the high-quality services and extensive maintenance capabilities that Caverion brings to the table.
Meeting Future Demand
With over 20 percent of vehicles in Norway now being electric, the need for fast charging infrastructure is growing. Estimates suggest that Norway will require between 6,000 and 10,000 fast charging points by 2030. ADS-TEC Energy’s solutions are crucial in meeting this demand efficiently, without the need for costly grid upgrades.
