The all-new Kia Seltos subcompact SUV has been comprehensively re-engineered on an entirely new platform and has expanded its global availability to reach up to 189 countries. According to Kia America, global production for the updated model initiated in December 2025, with vehicle sales spreading across key international markets throughout 2026. The vehicle joins Kia’s growing electrified portfolio, which also features the Sportage Hybrid and the newly expanded 2027 Telluride hybrid lineups. The company reports that the re-engineered model introduces a brand-new hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant alongside a revised lineup of petrol powertrains to satisfy changing global regulatory and consumer demands (www.kia.com).
Highlights
- Global vehicle availability scales up to 189 countries following the initial start of manufacturing in India, Korea, and China.
- Built on Kia’s latest K3 architecture featuring up to 60 percent ultra-high-strength and hot-stamped steel for Korea-built models.
- Cabin proportions expand via a 60 mm longer wheelbase, delivering 25 mm of added passenger legroom and 38 liters of extra cargo space.
- Aerodynamic structural enhancements reduce the vehicle’s drag coefficient down to 0.31 from the previous generation’s 0.33 rating.

How Does the All-New Kia Seltos Deliver Efficient Performance?
The redesigned SUV utilizes Kia’s rigid K3 platform, which provides measurably higher structural body rigidity alongside optimized suspension geometry and enhanced chassis tuning. Depending on the specific regional market, powertrain choices range across several internal combustion choices and a new hybrid configuration. For the Korean and North American markets, options encompass a 2.0-liter engine, a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injection (T-GDI) engine, and a 1.6-liter HEV powertrain. In Europe, the model’s availability is restricted to the 1.6T-GDI and 1.6L HEV configurations.
The new hybrid variant joins the lineup in 2026 to address increasing international demand for lower-tailpipe-emission mobility options. This hybrid configuration marks the first time Kia has applied electronic all-wheel drive (e-AWD) technology to an internal combustion or hybrid vehicle, though it remains restricted to export markets only. The hybrid variant introduces a Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0 that automatically alters braking intensity based on real-time traffic flow, navigation insights, and obstacles such as speed bumps or roundabouts. Additionally, an integrated Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function allows users to power external electronic equipment directly from the cabin.

What Dimensions and Interior Capabilities Are Offered?
The exterior dimensions of the Seltos have grown in every direction, measuring 4,430 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height on a 2,690 mm wheelbase. This footprint represents a length increase of 45 mm and a width increase of 30 mm over its predecessor, facilitating a more spacious cabin environment and enabling the factory fitment of wheels up to 19 inches.
Inside, the center console layout has been completely cleared by transitioning to a column-type Shift-by-Wire (SBW) system. Total luggage capacity scales up to 536 liters under VDA measurement standards, or 786 liters under SAE standards. For added cargo flexibility, the rear passenger seats recline up to 12 degrees both forward and backward, and feature a 6:4 split-folding design.
