chargecloud Acquires elvah Charging Market Intelligence Platform

chargecloud has acquired elvah's market intelligence platform and Charging Market Report, its first product acquisition ever, adding competitive pricing data and a Smart Pricing Engine to its charging OS.

Cologne-based EV charging software provider chargecloud GmbH has acquired part of the product line from data specialist elvah, picking up the elvah Hub market intelligence platform and elvah’s twice-yearly Charging Market Report. The deal marks chargecloud’s first product acquisition in its ten-year history, the company said this week, and folds elvah’s real-time data into the chargecloud OS, the company’s white-label platform for charge point operators (CPOs). The acquired products will be phased in as new chargecloud Market Intelligence Services, with the goal of giving CPOs market analysis, price optimization, and billing from one provider instead of separate third-party tools. chargecloud says the combination will let operators understand the market, price against competitors, and settle transactions without leaving its system.

Highlights

  • chargecloud acquires the elvah Hub and elvah Charging Market Report, built on real-time data from roughly 1.2 million charging points (EVSE IDs) across Europe
  • The “Analyze” market-intelligence module launches in Q4 2026 as a standalone product and inside the chargecloud OS, with API access for CPOs
  • A Smart Pricing Engine — built from elvah’s “Optimize” module — arrives in 2027 alongside a new dynamic pricing API on chargecloud’s billing engine
  • It’s chargecloud’s first product acquisition since its 2016 founding; the company has grown organically until now

What chargecloud Is Buying

elvah has built a position as a data provider for the European charging market, drawing on real-time data from roughly 1.2 million charging points to calculate utilization metrics, competitive pricing, and regional market trends. According to chargecloud, energy providers, consulting firms, and CPOs use that data as the basis for strategic decisions.

The elvah Charging Market Report — a twice-yearly overview of the competitive landscape and price trends in Germany and other European markets — will continue publishing, now under the chargecloud brand. The first edition under the new brand is due later this year.

“Analyze” Module Launches in Q4 2026

The first of three elvah modules being integrated, “Analyze,” becomes available in the fourth quarter of 2026 as both a standalone product and a component of the chargecloud OS. It’s designed to give CPOs a benchmark of their local and regional market: utilization near their charging stations, how charge-point reliability affects that utilization, current competitor pricing, and where demand is unmet. The module runs on real-time data, has its own interface, and is also accessible via API for operators who want to pull market data into their own systems. Existing elvah customers will receive new contracts during the transition to keep the switch seamless, chargecloud says.

Smart Pricing Engine Set for 2027

The second module, “Optimize,” becomes chargecloud’s Smart Pricing Engine, generating location-specific pricing recommendations from real-time market data, utilization patterns, and the local competitive landscape. In the first half of 2027, chargecloud plans to add a dynamic pricing API to its billing engine, making the Smart Pricing Engine available to customers as part of the chargecloud OS. The company positions this against pricing tools tied to wholesale electricity prices: its approach instead weighs local competitive data and nearby utilization rates.

Distribute Module Completes the Pricing Loop

A third module, “Distribute,” is scheduled for the second half of 2027 and adds real-time price distribution — letting CPOs push optimized prices directly to end customers and e-mobility providers (EMPs) through a white-label solution and SDK, bypassing roaming structures. Once all three modules are integrated, chargecloud says the OS will cover the full pricing cycle in one system: reading the market, setting prices, delivering them to drivers, and billing the transaction. The company describes this combination of market intelligence, price optimization, and billing as currently unmatched in the European market.

First Deal in a Decade of Organic Growth

“I am very excited about this milestone for chargecloud. Over the years, elvah has built up a database and in-depth expertise that a large part of the industry relies on,” said Markus Bach, CEO & CTO of chargecloud GmbH. “Integrating this intelligence into our chargecloud OS now and building a true smart pricing engine from it is exactly what CPOs need: not only reliable billing, but also a valid data foundation for pricing.”

Oliver Adrian, COO & CRO of chargecloud GmbH, framed the deal as a response to margin pressure on operators: “CPOs who want to remain competitive in the market over the long term are under increasing pressure to operate their charging infrastructure cost-effectively. To do so, they need not only a reliable billing system but also market transparency.”

The company, founded in Cologne in 2016, had built its portfolio organically until now. “Organic growth remains our foundation. With this targeted acquisition as part of a buy-and-build strategy, we are further accelerating our growth and selectively expanding our product portfolio to drive measurable progress for our customers,” said Dr. Marius Mölders, CFO of chargecloud GmbH.
