Ford and Ford Pro have selected Ohme as their new EV home charging partner in Ireland. Under the Ford Power Promise program, participating dealers across the Republic of Ireland will provide Ohme chargers to qualifying customers at no additional cost.
Highlights
- Ford Ireland expands Power Promise program with Ohme partnership, offering complimentary home EV chargers and standard installation to qualifying vehicle purchasers through April 2026.
- Off-peak charging costs significantly reduced — fully charging a Puma Gen-E during Energia EV Smart Drive hours (2am–6am) costs approximately €5, compared to €58–€70 for equivalent petrol.
- Ohme’s dynamic charging technology integrates with Irish energy providers including Energia Group, SSE Airtricity, Power NI, and Click NI for optimized charging schedules.
- Ford Ireland reports 500% year-over-year increase in electric passenger vehicle sales, with the partnership extending across passenger and commercial EV lineups.
Partnership Details and Market Context
A Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across five European markets found that 25% of respondents experience uncertainty when purchasing an electric vehicle. One in eight cited difficulty arranging home charging as a barrier to adoption.
Ohme, headquartered in Cork, operates as the largest home EV charging company in the UK and Ireland. The company holds the distinction of being Europe’s fastest-growing EV charging provider. This partnership builds on Ohme’s existing relationship with Ford in the UK through Octopus Energy.
The collaboration includes charger supply, installation services, dealer training, and ongoing support infrastructure.

Ford Power Promise Program Components
The Ford Power Promise extends beyond the complimentary home charger. Qualifying customers receive:
- Eight-year, 160,000 km warranty covering high-voltage components and battery (maintains 70% capacity threshold)
- Five-year service plan at no charge, including two scheduled services aligned with two-year/unlimited mileage intervals
- Five-year roadside assistance with towing coverage
- BlueOval Charge Network access to more than 750 charging locations with 2,127 public charging points across Ireland
- FordPass app integration for consolidated public charging payments
- Dedicated customer support throughout ownership
Charging Economics and Technology
Ohme chargers utilize live grid data to optimize charging schedules automatically. During Energia EV Smart Drive off-peak hours (2am–6am), customers using a 7.4kW charger can add approximately 30kW of battery capacity for €2.79 at the 9.42c/kWh rate.
The system supports solar boost functionality, reducing grid dependency for customers with photovoltaic installations. Chargers automatically adjust to access the lowest-cost energy tariffs available through Ohme’s partnerships with Irish energy providers.

The offer applies across Ford’s electric and plug-in hybrid lineup:
- Passenger EVs: Explorer (up to 602 km WLTP range), Capri (up to 627 km), Puma Gen-E (up to 417 km), Mustang Mach-E (up to 600 km)
