Hyundai Motor America has unveiled new features designed to streamline and elevate the electric vehicle (EV) charging process for owners of select Hyundai EVs. Integrated into the MyHyundai with Bluelink app, these advancements promise a more convenient and efficient charging experience starting with the 2025 IONIQ 5 and 2026 IONIQ 9.

Key Highlights

  • In-App-Charging Feature: Locate, navigate, activate, and pay for charging stations directly in the app.
  • Plug and Charge Feature: Automatically pay by plugging in at participating stations—no smartphone or card needed.
  • Initially compatible with the 2025 IONIQ 5 and 2026 IONIQ 9, with more models to follow.
  • Works with major networks like IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, ChargePoint, and EVgo.

Seamless Charging with In-App Features

The In-App-Charging Feature transforms the MyHyundai with Bluelink app into a one-stop solution for EV charging. Owners can search for nearby stations, get navigation directions, select a charger, and complete payments—all within the app. This eliminates the hassle of juggling multiple third-party apps or carrying a physical credit card. The feature also offers dynamic EV trip planning, allowing drivers to map routes with optimal charging stops. Users can even send charger locations directly to their vehicle’s infotainment system for effortless navigation.

Plug and Charge: Effortless Convenience

For even greater ease, the Plug and Charge Feature lets drivers start charging and pay automatically by simply connecting their vehicle at participating stations. After a one-time setup in the app, the vehicle communicates with the charger to handle everything—no manual input required. This time-saving option is currently supported at networks like IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, and select ChargePoint stations.

Looking Ahead

Hyundai plans to roll out these features to additional EV models and expand compatibility with more charging networks, making EV ownership smoother for a wider audience.

Final Thoughts

“These innovations simplify charging and elevate the ownership experience, underscoring our dedication to accessible EV solutions,” said Manish Mehrotra, vice president of digital business planning and connected operations at Hyundai Motor North America.
