i-charging has secured Intertek ETL certification for i-light, its heavy-duty charger rated at up to 1.5 MW per output via the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and up to 800 kW per output via CCS, clearing the equipment for commercial operation in the United States and Canada. The certification confirms that i-light meets the electrical safety standards recognized by US and Canadian certification authorities for high-power DC charging equipment, including UL 2202, UL 2231 and CSA C22.2 #346. i-charging, a Portuguese company headquartered in Porto and Atlanta, says the approval removes a deployment barrier for infrastructure operators by confirming that the hardware has been independently tested before it reaches the field.

What ETL Certification Covers
ETL certification, issued by Intertek, verifies that electrical equipment meets the applicable US and Canadian safety standards and can be legally installed and operated across both countries. For i-light, the company says the certification confirms the charger meets the technical requirements to operate safely in commercial and industrial charging environments.
i-charging describes the approval as an addition to a series of certifications already secured across its product range, and to i-light’s existing recognitions.
Dual CCS and MCS Outputs
i-light is i-charging’s charger for medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, and it is available with two output standards rather than one. The CCS output serves the heavy-duty vehicles operating today, while the MCS output positions the unit for the segment’s next phase as megawatt-capable vehicles enter the market.

Why the Certification Matters for Fleet Operators
The company frames the certification as the entry point for i-light into North American fleet depots, where duty-cycle reliability governs purchasing decisions.
