Motiv Power Systems, a prominent Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of electric trucks and buses, has successfully completed the delivery of 55 electric trucks to Purolator, a top provider of integrated freight, package, and logistics solutions. This delivery marks a significant enhancement to Purolator’s fleet, increasing its total number of Motiv electric trucks to 60, which are now operational across multiple daily routes in Canada.

The first five Motiv trucks introduced in 2021 have collectively covered tens of thousands of miles, contributing substantially to Purolator’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The expansion follows a successful pilot and underscores Purolator’s commitment to achieving a 60% electrified last-mile delivery fleet by 2030, and net-zero emissions by 2050.
Chris Henry, Purolator’s Director of National Fleet, highlighted the strategic benefits of integrating Motiv’s electric trucks: “Integrating Motiv’s trucks into our operations is a step forward in our journey towards reaching 60% electrification of our last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030, and ultimately achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” said Henry. He praised Motiv’s customer support, which was crucial during the British Columbia pilot.
Purolator aims to be the greenest courier company in Canada and plans to invest about $1 billion over the next seven years to electrify its fleet. This ambitious plan includes acquiring around 3,500 electric trucks and electrifying over 60 terminals nationwide.
