EV charging leader eyes booming US market with Columbus facility set to open in Q1 2024
Global EV charging infrastructure leader Star Charge is expanding its manufacturing footprint to the United States with a new plant in Columbus, Ohio. The facility is slated to begin production in the first quarter of 2024, aiming to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging solutions in the US market.
Favorable business climate and strategic location
The decision to locate the plant in Central Ohio was driven by several factors, including a favorable business environment, reasonable operational costs, a robust supply chain, and attractive government incentives. This strategic location will give Star Charge efficient access to resources and talent, further enhancing its operations in the US.
Initial capacity of 20,000+ chargers annually
The Ohio plant will have an initial production capacity of over 20,000 chargers annually, offering a diverse range of products:
- AC, DC, and bi-directional chargers
- Power ratings from 7kW to 480kW
- Applications for residential, school buses, commercial fleets, and public charging stations
NEVI-ready DC fast chargers for optimal efficiency
The plant will also manufacture NEVI (Next-Generation Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) ready DC fast chargers, including the Titan 150KW and Neptune split system models. These chargers are known for their:
- Over 97% efficiency
- Intelligent dynamic load management features
- Contribution to operational efficiency of charging stations
