Wallbox Chargers, a global leader in electric vehicle charging and energy management solutions, has announced the launch of the next generation of their Supernova DC fast charger, Supernova 220 (currently not available for purchase in North America). The newest addition to the product family is designed to charge at up to 220 kW, enabling a full charge of a passenger EV for up to 100 miles in just eight minutes.

Key Highlights:

  • 220 kW output with a footprint of just 3.48 ft²
  • Capable of fully charging a passenger EV up to 100 miles in eight minutes
  • Over 2,000 DC fast chargers sold in more than 30 countries
  • Can charge one EV at 220 kW or two EVs simultaneously at 110 kW each
  • Compliant with latest AFIR regulations with prominently displayed metering windows
  • Award-winning design suitable for public locations like car parks, shopping centers, and dealerships

To date, the company has sold over 2,000 DC fast chargers in over 30 countries worldwide. The introduction of the Supernova 220 offers charge point operators a broader range of power options within the Supernova family, allowing for the expansion of EV charging networks with reliable and high uptime chargers. This ensures that CPOs can install the most suitable power model for each site without compromising on reliability or customer experience.

Thanks to Supernova’s award-winning compact design, the 220 kW version provides efficiency benefits to both charge-point operators and customers. Despite being the same size as other Supernova models, it is the most powerful yet, capable of charging one EV at up to 220 kW or two EVs simultaneously at up to 110 kW each. Increasing the power while maintaining the cost of installation, maintenance, and space usage improves the return on investment for charge point operators, especially in high-volume locations.

“At Wallbox, our aim is to ensure that EV charging is simple and accessible to all drivers, which means offering reliable solutions that meet the needs of a range of locations,” said Till Wilmschen, Director of DC fast charging at Wallbox. “Supernova 220 fills the current need for High Power Charging sites, capable of providing 10 to 15-minute charging times for passenger EVs, as well as serving the high power charging demands at private and public sites for fleets, electric trucks, buses, and heavy goods vehicles.”

The Supernova 220 not only delivers high power with a compact footprint but also optimizes space thanks to its high power density. It is fully compliant with the latest AFIR regulations, featuring metering windows prominently displayed below the touchscreen and DC metering options, without the need for any additional accessories. Its sleek, distinctive design allows for custom branding, making it perfect for visible public locations such as car parks, shopping centers, and dealerships.
