EVgo has opened its newest flagship fast charging station in metropolitan Detroit, lifting the number of flagship stalls open nationwide past 40. The site sits directly across from General Motors’ Global Technical Center at the Meijer store in Warren, Michigan, and carries 12 stalls in a mix of CCS and NACS configurations. EVgo says it expects more than 100 flagship stalls to be online by the end of 2026, with General Motors contributing to the expansion to support EV adoption across the U.S.

What Sets a Flagship Site Apart?
EVgo designs its flagship locations around high-power chargers, enhanced lighting, and larger stall counts intended to reduce wait times and improve access. The company says flagship stations will average up to 20 stalls per site and are sited for convenient access to shopping, dining, grocery, and other services drivers can use while charging.

Inside the Warren Station
The Warren site includes:
- Overhead canopy with pull-through access, allowing vehicles towing trailers to charge without unhitching
- 12 stalls split across CCS and NACS connectors
- 350 kW charging, which EVgo says can deliver a full charge in as little as 15 minutes depending on the vehicle
The company notes that actual charging time varies with a vehicle’s charging speed and settings, battery condition, ambient temperature, and initial state of charge.
Why Michigan?
The Warren station expands fast charging options in a state where the number of EVs in operation increased sixfold between 2021 and 2025, according to Experian US VIO data cited by EVgo. The location extends the charging network operator’s longstanding partnership with Meijer, which has been rolling out fast charging across the Midwest retailer’s six-state footprint.

GM’s Role in the Buildout
General Motors has backed the flagship program as part of a broader charging strategy tied to its own EV lineup.
“The flagship charging experience demonstrates what is possible when automakers, charging networks and retailers work together to deliver an elevated customer experience for today’s EV driver,” said William Hotchkiss, head of public charging at General Motors. “By expanding access to reliable, high-power charging in convenient locations, we’re making the choice to purchase or lease GM’s twelve different EV models easier.”
Separately from the flagship program, EVgo has built nearly 2,400 stalls across 32 states with GM’s support.
Where the Flagship Program Goes Next
EVgo plans to build flagship stations in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. The company, GM, and Pilot Company recently reported that their collaborative fast charging network surpassed 1,300 stalls at 300 locations across 40 states.
